Washing Instructions:

• Home washing by water is available for all items made by Kikuko Jodo including scarves, stoles and dresses.
• No shrinkage appears on any item due to “double water wash” during its making process (see details in the window) as same as hand painted Yuzen of expensive Japanese kimono.
• Colorants are firmly fixed in each fiber as shown in making process “steaming” (see details in the window”. No color fading appears on any item because of difference of “colorants and dyeing method” (see details in the window) as may be seen on other Asian hand dyeing items.
• No change of colors appears due to water drops as seen on Kusaki-zome, or botanical coloring (see details in the window).
• Water washing is available to any kind of fabric such as silk, wool, hemp, cotton and polyester.
• Use detergent for delicate wears, and AVOID those with bleach commenting “Finish in real WHITE”.
• Recommend to use COLD WATER rather than “lukewarm water” which is mostly used for delicate wears, for hand dyeing items do not shrink even if they are silk or wool.
• Best to wash by hands, but laundry machine wash within a net and spin-dry for approx. 30 seconds is also available. For further soft texture, use fabric softener after rinsing.
• Put ironing while the item is still WET. Be sure to press iron in keeping with the fabric lines on vertical or horizontal. AVOID ironing on diagonal lines.
• After ironing, make sure there is no wrinkle, then spread the item on a flat space or hung it on a laundry pole in flat to make it dry naturally.
• Only natural dry without ironing after spin-dry is also acceptable.
  
• When you take the item to Cleaning Shop, be sure to tell them that “the item has similar characteristics to designer’s expensive Hand-Painted Yusen Kimono”, and designate “PETROLEUM-DERIVED CLEANING”, not usual dry cleaning.
• DO NOT put ironing for those with volume, such as pleats, squeezing, or with stitches. Home washing is recommended and avoid to use dry cleaning.
